BOS 7, TEX 0

BOS 7
TEX 0
WP- Bronson Arroyo (3-7)
LP- Joaquin Benoit (3-4)
HR- J Damon 2 (8,9)

Bronson Arroyo got his first win since May 25th, Johnny Damon hit two solo HRs, and the Red Sox shut out one of the best hitting teams in the American League on three hits, running their win streak to 4 games- 5 in the last 6.

Arroyo was dominant- only issuing the 4 baserunners (3 hits, BB) to go with 7 strikeouts. He pitched 8 innings with 109 pitches, and looked great doing it. It was his third win.

Johnny Damon continues to hit and have his best season in Boston. 4-for-5 with two HRs and 4 RBI and 3 runs scored raises his average to .319 with 9 HR and 45 RBI. More importantly, he has been one of the best leadoff men in baseball with a .397 OBP.

Bottom line- Arroyo stepped up huge. The way the matchups line up, the Sox had a favorable one with Wakefield/ Drese on Sunday, and a less-than-favorable one with Lowe/ Rogers on Saturday. This was the swing game- and it wasn't close. The Red Sox are limiting runs, scoring a lot, and playing like one would hope they could.

And Curtis Leskanic is pitching very, very well. If Francona can make sure to leave gas in his tank all season, he can certainly at least perform as well as he did last season (212 ERA+ in 52.7 IP with 50K).

Finally... Schill to skip the All Star Game. Phew.
