BOS 14, TEX 6

BOS 14
TEX 6
WP- Derek Lowe (7-8)
LP- Kenny Rogers (12-3)
HR- N Garciaparra (4); M Ramirez 2 (25, 26); M Bellhorn (11); J Varitek (11); H Blalock (23)

We won, and we won big. Here are some numbers-
  • Derek Lowe- 7IP, 4H, 6R, 0ER, 3BB, 5K

  • 1-4 hitters in the Sox lineup- 15-for-21 with 11 RBI, 4HR, 11R

  • Johnny Damon extends his hit streak to 15 games, including 7 straight multi-hit games.

  • Pokey Reese- 0-for-5 with 3Ks. Only hitter not to reach base, and he wasn't even close once.

  • David Ortiz sat the game as a result of the birth of his new baby boy, D'Angelo.

  • Manny Ramirez- 4-for-5, 5RBI, 2B, 2HR (26HR/ 77RBI on season). He is now first in HR, tied for first in RBI, and 4th in BA in the AL. His OPS of 1.122 is the AL best by ~120 pts.

  • Lowe had an iffy second inning, but it largely wasn't his fault- and he really held Texas down the rest of the way. We're rolling. Kenny Rogers wasn't close, and only got 5 outs in the game, yielding 8 runs. Let's finish strong tomorrow before the break- Wake vs. Ryan Drese.

It was all Manny tonight... and Nomar, Bellhorn, Damon, Varitek...
